In episode 25, I’m chatting with Joy Michelle Photography and she is sharing all about the untapped potential in sharing content on YouTube. Is anyone else guilty of just using YouTube to watch videos or new movie trailers? Good! I’m glad I’m not alone!
Many creatives—and I’m including myself when I say this—get so caught up in their own heads thinking of everything that can go wrong with a project. But let’s be honest, this tendency keeps us from reaching our full potential and trying new things.
Joy shares about her own fears with starting a YouTube channel including fear of the technology and fear of what people will think and what they’ll say. But she quickly learned that these fears were unfounded and now has a YouTube community of almost 25,000 followers!
If you’re thinking about infusing more video content into your business, Joy recommends starting small: invite people into your business by showing them behind the scenes. When people know, like, and trust you, they’re more likely to buy from you. Behind-the-scenes videos are a great way to let people see what it’s like to work with you.
And you don’t even need a “fancy” camera to get started! Phone cameras are of such great quality these days that there are multiple YouTube stars who have only filmed content on their phones!
Once you start putting videos out into the world, your audience will tell you what other content they’d like from you. Listen to them, and develop a content calendar that aligns with your unique skills but also caters to their interests and needs.
So, what’s keeping you from getting started with YouTube? Make the leap today, friends! I’ll be jumping with you!
